We are always open to new members, welcoming aged from 6+ to our Avengers junior section and from 13+ to our senior teams.
Our Squads
Abingdon Hockey Club has four men’s teams, three ladies’ teams and a mixed team which means we are able to offer a range of standards and a route of progression through the club. So whether you are an experienced player looking for a new club, a ‘rusty’ player looking to get back into the game, or a complete beginner – we have a team for you! We like to create a friendly, supportive environment for all our players and you will feel part of the club – and part of a team – in no time!
If you aren’t old enough to play for our adult teams yet, you are very welcome to join our junior side, the Abingdon Avengers. Here you will receive the same high-level coaching as the adults, in a safe and encouraging environment, until you are ready to join an adult team.
If you are interested in joining then come along to a training session at Tilsley Park and give us a go! We offer three free sessions to new members to allow you to get to know us.
We run beginner, back to hockey and 3rd Team training from 7-8:30pm and 1s and 2s Team training from 8pm to 9:30 with our Ladies training on Tuesday evenings and our Men on Wednesday evenings.
Our Avengers train Sunday mornings from 9:30am to 12pm in age-appropriate sessions.

It is a requirement of England Hockey, that all players wishing to participate in the official leagues as players or umpires must be registered on the GMS. This is to support match day admin for Abingdon Hockey Club and England Hockey and overtime, will generate your playing history.
New players to GMS
Registration is easy. Head to the England Hockey GMS portal and follow the instructions to register. A verification code will be sent from WhosTheUmpire during the process. Complete all the details requested and ensure you select Abingdon HC as your club. Once done, please forward your confirmation email to the AHC club secretary.
Transferring players to AHC
Players can initiate their transfer via their landing page on GMS. By doing so, both the current and new club will be informed of the request and able to approve/reject the transfer. Once both clubs have approved, the player will be available to the new club. Should there be a dispute in the approval, the request will be automatically escalated to the relevant league administrator. Requests will time-out after 10 days, so please email the current and new club secretaries to ensure timely approval.
For U18s
The above process is for over 18s only. The transfer of junior players requires the guardian to request your releasing club to email GMS support copying the AHC club secretary to confirm the transfer and that no monies are owed. Include that you wish to transfer to Abingdon HC and they will complete the rest.
