New to Umpiring ? 1st Timer Pointers

1st Time Pointers - Zoom 9th May @ 1930

Thanks to all those who said that they were interested in helping out with umpiring during the summer league, it's an excellent opportunity to try your hand (and whistle) at it ahead of the new season. We understand that we have a wide range of experience within the club, so we're going to run a Zoom session on Tuesday 9th May (7.30 start) to run through the key pointers for 1st timers or those who haven't done it for a while.

The session will run through:

Responsibilities of an umpire?
What should an umpire bring with them?
Basics of positioning and signalling

This is intended as a starting point and it would be great to discuss with people what the club can do to support them with their umpiring development, options include:

Shadowing an experienced umpire
Umpiring with an experienced umpire on the radios
Getting constructive feedback at the end of a game
