Mixed XI Perform Well against Wallingford
This Sunday the Mixed XI travelled away to Wallingford. After excellent performances all round from the Abingdon teams yesterday, everyone was in good form.
From the start of the match the Abingdon side passed the ball round well and made some good runs forward, putting the Wallingford side under pressure. Callum, Carl and Ellis worked well together in the middle, well supported by our Ladies Becca Denton and Sarah Steadman.
The Wallingford side had their fair share of attacking play, but excellent keeping from Tony, some solid sweeping from Big Dave and good performances from the rest of the backs managed to keep the Wallingford attack at bay.
The break through came for Abingdon after some good play in the middle led to a well executed goal from Ellis.
Half Time 1-0 to Abingdon. In the second half the Abingdon side pushed forward once more, with Sarah S and Aimee making some great runs to support the boys! However, Wallingford managed to squeeze in an equalizer leaving the final score 1-1.
Much fun was had by all – if you haven’t given mixed a go yet this season I urge you to – it really is great fun!
